Located right downtown, Sechelt’s newest “good vibe dining” spot, El Segundo, does not disappoint. The decor is funky and retro — full of plants, wicker, tropical prints and vibrant colours. Whether you cuddle up in one of their cozy booths, saddle up to the full cocktail bar or hang out on the breezy patio you're sure to immediately feel the good vibes of this place. The food is fresh and vibrant “Pacific Rim Fusion”, with plenty of vegan and gluten free options. The cocktail menu is extensive (and insanely delicious!), and they carry a great selection of local beers, wines and ciders. DO NOT miss this spot the next time your on the coast!

 

 

2. The Gumboot Restaurant

The Gumboot is a hidden treasure found in the heart of Roberts Creek — the room is cozy, filled with art and makes you feel like you're visiting an old friend. The food is wholesome and healthy, but definitely does not lack in flavour, and it is cooked using local, organic and sustainably sourced ingredients when possible — they even have their own greenhouse and garden out back, can’t get much fresher than that! They have amazing wine list, full bar and and a good selection of local beer and cider on tap. Come here to escape the rain, or enjoy the sunshine on their wrap around patio — you wont regret it!

 

 

3. Smittys Oyster House

Visiting Smittys is a absolute must when on The Sunshine Coast — located right on the water in Lower Gibsons, you can enjoy the spectacular view of the marina from the long communal table on their patio while feasting on freshly shucked oysters and seafood (they serve other cuisine as well, but its all about the seafood here!). The atmosphere has a ship-wrecked feel to it and is super fun and lively — great place to go if you are celebrating or just for a fun night out. Excellent selection of local beer, cider and wine - and their Caesars are to die for!

 

 

4. The Wobbly Canoe

Located in beautiful Davis Bay, the Wobbly Canoe is the perfect spot to take in the sunset with stunning views of the bay, the pier and Vancouver Island mountains in the distance. You can enjoying locally sourced comfort food with a Asian Fusion/West Coast flair, from their large, sunny patio, or their cozy dining room. Their menu has great variety, with lots of vegetarian options and their drink menu boasts a excellent selection of rotating craft beer and cider. Lots of large tables so perfect for a night out if you have a bigger group.

 

5. The Barefoot Gecko

When you walk into The Barefoot Gecko you are instantly transported to Mexico, its like being on a mini vacation! The decor, and even the architecture of the building is very authentic, as is their delicious Mexican food. They have a nice variety on their menu, with lots of vegetarian options and everything is made fresh in house, including their epic handmade corn tortillas! Lots of cold local beer and cider available and the cocktails are fantastic — best margarita in town, hands down!

 

6. Bueno Osteria

Found right in downtown Lower Gibsons, Bueno Osteria is known for its Modern Mediterranean cuisine with a Pacific Northwest twist. The pasta is made fresh in house, they change their menu with the seasons so their meats and veggies are always super fresh and they have the best pizza on the coast hands down - made to order and then baked in their wood burning Forno oven. The cocktails here are fabulous and they have a nice selection of beer and wine. The laid back atmosphere, prompt service and spectacular ocean views make this the perfect date night spot!

 

7. La Trattoria Italiana

Location: 15426 Sunshine Coast Highway, Madeira Park

This hidden gem is definitely worth the trip up the coast! La Trattoria Italiana is located at the  picturesque Ruby Lake resort and serves up classic Northern Italian cuisine. They pride themselves in using locally grown farm to table produce (lots of it is actually grown at their on site garden!), wild game and ocean wise seafood — and you can really taste it! The food here is phenomenal. They also host a number of food tasting events throughout the summer — my recommendation? Don’t miss out on the Wild Mushroom Fest!

 

8. Lunitas Mexican Eatery

Location: 645 School Rd, Gibson

This cute little Mexican Eatery is tucked away off the beaten track overlooking the Marina and Inner Harbour  in Lower Gibsons. The room is funky, warm and cozy, the staff are super friendly and the patio is just lovely, especially on a sunny summer evening. The food is unique — they don’t just stick to traditional Mexican and there are many interesting and tasty fusion dishes to try (don’t miss out on the drunken prawns!). If you are looking for a lively, friendly atmosphere with outstanding food and drinks, this is the place for you!

 

9. The Lagoon Restaurant

Location: 12849 Lagoon Road, Madeira Park

The Lagoon Restaurant is located at the Painted Boat Resort, Spa and Marina, but it is definitely worth it to make a special trip just to dine here! The menu features West Coast cuisine with a European twist — made with sustainable and local seafood, organic produce and high quality locally sourced ingredients. The wine list is extensive, and they have a good selection of local beer and carefully crafted cocktails. Perfect for a night with friends or a romantic evening with your special someone — and if you are looking to host an event they also have a private room available for events and weddings!

 

 

10. Shift Kitchen and Tapas Bar

This cozy eatery located in downtown Sechelt is the perfect spot to escape a rainy day. They have a bunch of comfy booths so its easy to settle in and spend a few hours snacking on tapas and enjoying some yummy local beers. Shift has a diverse and creative menu offering something for everyone and the staff is super friendly and attentive. This place is always busy and full of locals — a must try while you're on the coast!
